Funding Opportunity for Genetic Counsellors – FAC November 2026. Due with Abstracts close Monday, 3 August 2026

Recognising that funding can be difficult to secure for genetic counsellors, the FAC organising committee is offering financial support to enable one genetic counsellor from each State to attend the Familial Aspects of Cancer (FAC) meeting on 25–26 November 2026. See: https://www.ivvy.com.au/event/FAC2026/ .

This funding will cover:

  • Conference registration for both days (25–26 November)
  • Accommodation for the nights of 24, 25, and 26 November 2026, allowing attendance at the poster welcome function on the evening of the 24th

Successful applicants will be required to cover their own travel expenses to and from the meeting.

Eligibility criteria: To be considered for this funding, applicants must:

  • Be a practising genetic counsellor (regardless of where they work) based in Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, or Tasmania
  • Submit an abstract via the FAC 2026 meeting portal by Monday, 3 August 2026
  • Commit to attending the 2 whole days of the meeting, 9AM – 5PM

Please consider submitting an abstract for your research in the areas of: clinical research, psychosocial, health services, implementation science, and genetic counselling research.

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed, and the highest-scoring abstract from each State/Territory, selected from those accepted as either an oral or poster presentation, will receive the funding. As there will be a lot of new findings presented this year, we hope everyone is keen to attend so we fill all spots.
