NeoScreen Psychosocial Study Recruitment

The NeoScreen Psychosocial Study is being conducted in collaboration with the Behavioural Sciences Unit in the School of Clinical Medicine, UNSW, under the direction of the i2i team in the School of Population Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health. This study aims to investigate your attitudes towards potential changes to Newborn Bloodspot Screening Programs in Australia and to find ways to best support families.

As part of this project, we are exploring healthcare professionals’ perspectives - including genetic counsellors, clinical geneticists and laboratory scientists involved in newborn screening - on potential changes to Australian newborn screening programs (including the use of genomic testing), optimal ways to support parents/families of children who receive a diagnosis following newborn screening, and priorities for future research. This study is ethics approved (UNSW HREC iRECS10128) and involves a telephone interview with a member of our research team.

We were wondering if the HGSA would be willing to support us by sharing this study with your members via your social media or other appropriate channels. I’ve attached an advertisement for your consideration, and potential participants can register their interest here:
